The time has come to add an enigmatic touch to our makeup collection; A rebellious update to our winter makeup routine. With the infinite color range of lipstick available to us nowadays, there’s no excuse for sticking to the classics.

Amy here is obviously a pro at this look, but if you don't know where to start, the berry family is the easiest and least intimidating to try. Wine shades are super approachable and universally flattering-- anyone can pull it off.

When trying bolder lip shades than you’re comfortable with, keeping the rest of your face minimal is key. Even if you have fair skin and light colored hair, the right dark lipstick will never wash you out. In fact, it will actually make your eyes and hair pop beautifully! As this Fashionista demonstrates, nude shadow and mascara are all you really need. To make your lashes stand out, rebel against the idea of evened out, fluttery lashes! This Fashionista’s strategically clumpy lashes gave me total Twiggy vibes.

Beginners may start with cream and gloss formulas, but all-hail the day you try a matte finish! When you’re ready, you can go for a velvety, full-blown oxblood shade, topped off with a modern velvet finish. As a burgundy lipstick enthusiast, I wear Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Exorcism every single day. The pigmentation, shade range, matte finish and staying power of liquid lipsticks have kept them on my list of favorites for years.

Bottom line: Vampy lips and a minimalistic, flawless face are a match made in heaven this season. Together, they put your daring side on full display!
